Trenchless sewer lining and pipe bursting in Pearland

Your sewer line is cracked or root-filled, and it runs under the driveway, a patio or a mature tree. Trenchless methods rebuild the pipe from small access points instead of a long trench, when the line suits them.

Quick answer

Trenchless sewer repair in Pearland either lines the old pipe from the inside with a resin-soaked sleeve or pulls new pipe through it by bursting, working from a cleanout or small pits. It only works when the existing line holds a steady slope, so a camera inspection decides whether trenchless or an open dig is the right call.

Trenchless isn't one method; it's two. Lining creates a new pipe inside the old one and suits cracks, root entry and leaking joints. Bursting splits the old pipe outward while a new one follows it, and suits pipe that's too broken or narrow to line.

Both keep the yard, driveway and landscaping mostly intact. Neither fixes a sag, because the new pipe follows the old path. That limit is why we put a camera through the line before quoting either one.

Method, length and access: pricing trenchless work

A national cost guide publishes a local range for trenchless sewer replacement, including per-foot figures, shown below. Your price depends on the method and on the pipe's condition.

Published planning ranges

  • $1,873 to $5,916 in Houston; $60 to $250 per linear foot, per Angi (Apr 8, 2026)
These are third-party planning ranges, not our prices and not a quote. You get a price for your job before work starts.
  • Lining or bursting. Each uses different equipment and materials, and the pipe's condition decides which one fits.
  • Length and diameter. Longer runs and larger pipe use more liner or more new pipe.
  • Branch reinstatements. Every connection that joins the main has to be reopened from inside after lining.
  • Access pits. Lines without a cleanout, or bursting jobs, need pits dug at one or both ends.

What your trenchless repair includes

  • Camera inspection and measurement before quoting
  • Jetting and root cutting to prepare the pipe
  • Liner or new HDPE pipe for the agreed run
  • Reinstatement of branch connections
  • Final camera run you can keep on file
  • Restoration of any access pits

Pipe lining

Cured-in-place lining starts with cleaning the old pipe back to bare walls, usually by jetting. A felt or fiberglass sleeve soaked in resin is pulled or inverted into the line, inflated against the walls and cured with hot water, steam or UV light. The result is a jointless pipe inside the old one, slightly smaller in diameter. Branch connections are reopened from inside with a cutter. Plan on the line being out of service while the resin cures, and on a camera check afterward.

Pipe bursting

Bursting pulls a cone-shaped head through the old line, cracking it outward into the soil while a new HDPE pipe follows behind it. It needs an entry pit and an exit pit at either end of the run, and it can install the same size or slightly larger pipe. It works on clay, cast iron and Orangeburg that is too damaged to line. It is less suited to lines running close to other utilities or a foundation, since the bursting pushes surrounding soil outward.

Lining under driveways

A sewer under a driveway is where trenchless pays off most, because breaking out and replacing concrete can cost as much as the pipe work. Lining goes in from a cleanout on one side and, if needed, a small access point on the other, leaving the slab untouched. We locate the line and record its condition first, because cracked pipe can be lined, but a section that has collapsed under the driveway may still need a short dig at that spot.

When trenchless will not work

A liner or bursting head follows the existing pipe, so it carries over whatever slope the old line had. A belly that holds water stays a belly after lining. Fully collapsed sections block the liner, and a line with several bends or diameter changes may not take a continuous sleeve. In those cases an open trench, at least for part of the run, is the honest answer. We show you the footage and explain which sections are lining candidates and which aren't.

Local conditions

Subsidence is the main reason trenchless gets ruled out in this area. TWDB Report 188 records as much as 7.5 feet of subsidence at Pasadena between 1943 and 1973, and ground that settles unevenly leaves sewer lines with bellies a liner can't correct. Pipe age matters too: HAR's subdivision table shows some Pearland subdivisions averaging a 1973 build year, while Shadow Creek Ranch averages 2005 and 2013. Older lines are the usual lining candidates, but only after a camera confirms the slope.

How a trenchless sewer job runs

  1. Camera and measureWe record the line, measure its length and check slope, bends and collapsed spots.
  2. Clean the host pipeJetting and root cutting take the old pipe back to bare walls for lining.
  3. Line or burstThe liner is installed and cured, or the new pipe is pulled through behind the bursting head.
  4. Reopen and verifyBranch connections are reopened and a final camera run confirms the new pipe.
